On Virtue: By UPS
In this delightful article a woman learns a lesson in virtue from the UPS man
The church is interested in more than virtue; it teaches holiness. "Be ye therefore holy for I the Lord your God am holy." (Lev. 20:7) But a little virtue right now, be it from Christian truth or the UPS man, would go a long way in restoring civility, and giving us all peace. (1 Timothy 2:1-5)
The world can never attain perfect virtue because it is peopled by sinners. But it would be a a huge blessing if we all spent our time working at it: seeing how high we can soar, instead of how low we can dive.
Yes, the church is interested in holiness, which is obtained by faith in the Son of God who loved us and gave himself for us. (Gal. 2:20) Holiness is eternal, but its fruit is virtue that, like oil, makes the machinery of this life operate smoothly. Virtue, too, is eternal. The perfection of virtue we see in Christ, and learn from Christ, will be the operative condition in heaven. It will be a delight.
