In The Cross Of Christ I Glory
Our new crucifix is nearly complete as you can see by the attached picture. It will also be on display tomorrow in the community room. It will be a powerful addition to our sanctuary and to our faith, for it is THE icon of our redemption.
Though the Lord's death and resurrection are past events historically, they are ever alive among the baptized; in our worship, in Word and Sacrament, and in our hearts and minds.
May we always hold this image in our minds, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer. May we see the world, and all of time and eternity through this blessed image. For as St. Paul writes:
"For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." I Corinthians 2:2.
And again,"But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." Galatians 6:14
The crucifix will be installed next Saturday, September 9th, at 9 AM and will require a good bit of help from all able bodied members. If you are able to help please contact our building manager Wayne Parnell and let him know.
The new crucifix will be dedicated on Sunday, September 17th, during Divine Service. It will be an occasion to remember.
