Of The Father's Love Begotten
Our closing hymn today, #98 Of The Father's Love Begotten, is one of the great treasures of the holy Christian religion. Here is an a capella version with words displayed. The combination of text and tune reach heights of theology, and depths of emotion, not often experienced.
The hymn began its life as a poem by the 4th century Christian poet Aurelius Prudentius Clemens. It first appeared as a hymn in 1582, and has been comforting God's people ever since.
Praise be to our great God and Savior Jesus Christ for the overflowing heritage of hymnody that has been dropped into our laps. (Luke 6:38)
Blessed New Year to all in Christ.
