Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence

1

let all mortal flesh keep silenceThe hymn "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" is a favorite of Lutherans and other Christians as well. In this article the author gives an outstanding explanation of the piece, its history and its melody. Listen to it here.

I was baptized, confirmed, and married in Puritas Lutheran Church. My family was part of the original congregation that formerly met at the old Garfield Elementary School, the old elementary school annex ( now the library), the small church on the corner of w 140 and Puritas (now a day care center ) and then moved to the current building. Although I no longer attend a Lutheran Church, I have many fond memories including Brownies, Girl Scouts, junior choir, adult choir, Luther League, and our confirmation class which was the last class the Rev. Clement Shoemaker confirmed.
