The History Theology And Practice Of Christian Worship - Part 2

Last Sunday I posted Part 1 of this study, this is a continuation of it. I tried to make a voice recording, but there was an equipment failure. Today I hope we can do better. If so I will post it on the blog.

Today in the pastor's class we will continue our study of three words: Lutheran, Service / Liturgy, and Book. In order to understand Service or Liturgy (which are synonyms) please see this article which previously appeared on this sight.

Today we will also review and sing the Kyrie and the Gloria which are on page 186ff of the LSB; and page 17ff in TLH. The words and melody are the same, but I would like to discuss the liturgical usage and placing of them. We'll see how far we can get today.

In the words of Jesus: deny yourself and take up your cross and follow me. The pastoral application I make here is to remind you to deny yourself of some sleep, or a leisurely Sunday morning breakfast, and come to learn God's Word at 9:00 AM at the pastor's class. You should always "resist the devil" and he will flee from you. But don't resist the Holy Spirit.
