Next Christmas

If you are a Christian, and if you send out Christmas cards, and decorate your house and yard for this holy season, let those efforts reflect your faith. It's too late for this year, but think about it for next Christmas.

If you're going to go to the effort and expense, let your preparations say something. Christmas is not about our kids, grandkids, dogs or cats so why feature their images on our cards? It's about Jesus instead! About his birth into the world where by his humility, suffering and death he would become the world's Redeemer. The same for decorations. Christmas is not about tinsel and teddy bears or sugar plums and fairies: but about "God in man made manifest."

And remember that gift giving is a custom based on God's great gift to humanity as we hear in John 3:16, "God loved the world in this way, he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Something to think about for next Christmas.
